Ever since games such as Fortnite, Call of Duty: Mobile, PUBG, or perhaps Rocket League have taken over the mobile screens and emulators (a virtual mobile setup running on a PC), people have split into two sides, those who love this gaming trend and those who hate it. One interesting aspect of this trend is that most people who love this gaming trend also enjoy watching others play the games live. Now, that is a fun aspect because, to be honest, I play PC games, but I do not watch game streams (no offense is meant). So, maybe, like me, you are also wondering why video game live streaming has become so popular and what is so addictive about it?
That is a fair question, and to be very frank, like most of you, even I was confused because it’s just a game, and why would people watch it? But now, a few years later, I can appreciate and understand the video game live streaming trend, so here is my view on why it’s so popular.

These prominent live streamers are brands themselves. If today a movie comes out with Tom Cruise in it, it will most likely become a hit at the box office! When you ask a gaming enthusiast what equipment or setup they want, they will name the things their favorite player or streamer uses.
The reason is simple, these famous gamers are great influencers, and the big brands always love to offer the star gamers their cutting-edge technology and latest game updates. Fans get to know the latest technology trends in the gaming industry. They love to know what their favorite gamer thinks of these new things and what their experience is while trying these trends. The fans trust their star’s views and opinions.
Money & Fame
These streamers make millions of bucks annually endorsing the gaming products plus the chance to try the latest developments in addition to the subscription or ad revenues, all while having fun and playing video games.
These game streamers also have a lot of die-hard fans all across the globe, thus assuring a significant chunk of fame and admiration. Shroud, Ninja, PewDiePie, and CarryMinati are some of the names which have gained quite a big fan following.
This lifestyle does attract lots of budding gamers to the live streams.
Interaction
Another fundamental reason that I feel why streaming is popular is because it is easier for fans to interact with their stars. Live chats have been a big game-changer on Instagram Live, Twitch, and YouTube Live Stream.
A streamer can have anywhere from 500K to 50M followers on IG and around even 100M on YouTube, which makes replying to the comments on posts and Direct Messages very unlikely.
Hence, with not more than 5000 viewers on average per stream, it’s much more likely to get a response from the streamer.
Gamer League Preparation
One very important and widely used reason for seeing live streams is to learn new tactics to play and become better at the online sport. It might be easier to say, but the possibilities are just endless. Suppose you talk about games like PUBG or Call of Duty Mobile. In that case, many valuable techniques can be learned by observing the expert gamers, such as the weapon set, the powerups used, where to land in a game to get great weapons, and how to figure out where your enemy could be.
The game commentary is similar to what you see in Cricket, Football, or Hockey. The tips are helpful to players who want to improve their game. Most streamers offer a fascinating point of view of the game.
One reason that makes it different from other sources of entertainment is that every game can be different and have wildly different outcomes. Thus, it is a unique experience to explore an uncharted angle of the game with other gaming fans.
Talking about professional sports, many players are scared and unaware of how to play on the professional level or how these pro sports are conducted and managed. They can watch, interact and hence, learn and understand the level of competition from the players who compete there. So, it’s like attempting a mock examination.

Plus, it is relaxing to watch the video game live streaming as you enter the magical fictional world with your online buddies. It provides a great escape from reality, especially after a tiring and dull day.
