Botanical Gardens, Ooty
The Government Botanical Garden is located on the lower slopes of Doddabetta Peak of the mesmerizing Nilgiri Mountain Ranges in Ooty.
The garden is spread over an area of about 55 hectares. The Tamil Nadu Horticulture Department maintains the garden divided into different terraced layouts.
It has about 1000 species of both indigenous and exotic plants, shrubs, ferns, trees, herbal and bonsai plants. The Garden offers several lawns with flowering plants, Italian-style flower beds, ferns, medicinal plants, and ponds with lilies.

It holds a sight of the beautiful, manicured greens, water fountains, and arched niches (chini khanas) behind garden waterfalls, a unique feature of this garden. The places were enlightened with oil lamps in the earlier days. Thus, it used to create a lovely glow behind the waterfalls. But now, it holds several flower pots that add color and beauty to the cascading waterfall.
